  • Coronavirus: when will you be able to fly normally again? - Jetcost

The global coronavirus-related health emergency has put a stop to most flights, both domestic and international. This is mainly due to the need of the countries affected by the epidemic to stem the possibility of infection by severely restricting the movement of their citizens.

Will people fly normally again?

The answer is yes. Some airlines are already planning packages and offers for next Christmas (when hopefully the situation will be back to normal). The companies' plan foresees a gradual return to normality, step by step, following the indications of the World Health Organization and the governmental dispositions of the countries concerned.

So it is only a matter of time, as the health situation improves the countries will begin to widen their restrictions and travel will resume.

Can flights be booked for the summer of 2020?

Yes, it is possible to book a flight for next summer, and also at a good price at the moment. However, you have to take into account that the current situation is constantly changing.

It is not known exactly when you will be able to fly normally again so booking a flight now, even if months in advance, is still a risk. If you are planning a trip for the summer, keep up to date with the situation in your country and the hypothetical destination, so you can be more confident that things are returning to normal.

It remains a gamble to book a flight now, however, as you cannot be sure that the Coronavirus emergency will be eradicated in time for the summer. The advice we give you is to monitor the situation and to keep you informed about insurances that will allow you to be reimbursed if the flight you have booked should be cancelled or if your country or destination country has not yet removed the travel restrictions.

This way you can be sure that you can book at an advantageous price and not lose money if you want or have to cancel your flight.

However, we recommend that you contact the airlines directly for details of the flight you are interested in and contact the insurer directly to find the policy that best suits your situation.
